It took me a long time to begin to recover from this trip, but I finally missed being on the road for the very first time today. Here’s a photo I took while we were driving down the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We took 35 from Marquette to Green Bay, and somewhere in the middle of a forest suddenly looked out and noticed the endless pool of beautiful, warm, clear water ahead. A quick check of the GPS told us we were at the corner of Lake Michigan. We pulled on to the shoulder, ran through some tall grass on the side of the highway, and went swimming with a bunch of yoopers.

That’s Mike in the center, a few hundred feet out, and only about knee deep. It was about 106° that day and the water must have been a refreshing 90.
